Keanu Reeves Rep: 'No New Matrix Movies' - False Reporting to Blame?
January 26, 2011
Sad news out. Keanu Reeves' rep says that there are no new Matrix movies scheduled. What a bummer! Reeves snatched up headlines recently when reports surfaced that new Matrix sequels were planned. It seemed questionable reporting by a website was to blame for the rumor.
A rep for Reeves told Entertainment Weekly, "None of it is true." Apparently, Ain't in Cool News falsely reported the actor was re-teaming with the Wachowski brothers to add two more films to the Matrix trilogy.
The website claimed that Reeves told audiences at the "London School of Performing Arts University" that two more Matrix films were going into production. Reeves' rep confirmed the actor was in London, but he never went to the school nor did he attend an event.
Even though Reeves won't be in any Matrix films in the near future, the actor does have a film scheduled for release next year. 47 Ronin will be out Nov. 21, 2012.
It's a safe bet that fans of the Matrix will be disappointed with this turn of events. Despite criticism from the media, Matrix films all did well. Perhaps, in another 10 years or so, a production company will revisit Matrix for a reboot!
