Keanu Reeves Gives His Idea for the Plot to 'Bill and Ted 3' on 'Late Night' (VIDEO)

It's been 20 years since 'Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey' had us bid farewell to our favorite time-travelling slackers. But that doesn't mean they're gone forever. For a year or so now, there have been reports that a third film is in the early stages of development. Keanu Reeves brought Jimmy Fallon up to speed with the project on 'Late Night' (Weeknights, 12:37AM ET on NBC).

Reeves explained that he and his co-star Alex Winter were brought in and asked if they'd be interested. Thankfully, they insisted on a good script before moving forward. "I think Bill and Ted at 50 could be funny," Reeves explained.

When he and Fallon got to talking about when we last saw the duo, it was when they were poised to write the best song ever to save the world. Reeves speculated the film could pick up there.

"They still haven't written the song and they've lost their minds," he said. Reeves is 46 and Winters is only 35, so the characters don't need to be as dramatically aged as Reeves is imagining. Certainly Reeves can still pass for a guy in his mid-30s, and mid-30s slackers are totally believable.

So how about Bill and Ted in their 30s? Would you be as excited as we are about this sequel?
